2009 Great Friend to Kids Awards
Please Touch Museum®’s 14th Annual Great Friend to Kids Awards will be held on Thursday, November 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Please Touch Museum at Memorial Hall, Fairmount Park.
We are pleased to announce that the museum’s Board of Directors and the 2009 Selection Committee, chaired by Charisse Lillie of the Comcast Corporation, have selected our 2009 honorees: Anne F. Hamilton, Cordella Hauser, the Phillie Phanatic, Shire Pharmaceuticals and Tom Toscani.

Mrs. Hamilton will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for the many contributions she has made in support of children throughout the region. Mrs. Hamilton has served on the museum’s Board of Directors for more than 20 years and is active in several organizations, including: The Franklin Institute, The Philadelphia Antique Show, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Steppingstones, American Heart Association, Thomas Jefferson Hospital’s Kimmel Cancer Center, The Philadelphia Zoo and Dragon Fly Forest. She also devotes her time when she is out of the Philadelphia region to causes in Newport, Rhode Island, Florida, Colorado and Antigua.
Ms. Cordella Hauser has dedicated over 35 years to Grace Temple Church as National Church Mother, Youth Coordinator, Youth Choir Manager, Coordinator for Young People Willing Workers, Philadelphia Food Bank liaison and Director of Summer Vacation Bible School.
Since debuting in 1978, the Phillie Phanatic has become a Philadelphia icon. Whether he’s dancing in front of the opposing team’s dugout, shooting hot dogs or practicing his baseball skills, the Phanatic is a constant source of pleasure and amusement for children.
Shire Pharmaceuticals of Wayne, PA is committed to addressing major issues faced by our community’s youth. Recent efforts include supporting the Department of Recreation’s opening of City swimming pools and facilitating a region-wide collection called “The Big Give,” which reached over 8,000 underprivileged children through the Cradles to Crayons program.
Tom Toscani is a coach, mentor, lawyer, energetic leader, volunteer extraordinaire and the driving force of numerous community associations, notably the Berwyn Paoli Area Little League program and its Field of Dreams complex.
